Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) is a natural healing method (not a religion) which uses universal life force
energy. This energy is in every living thing: humans, animals and plants. When
a person's Ki (life force energy) is high they feel more confident, strong
and healthy, therefore those receiving Reiki often feel more lively
and joyful and their own energy is enhanced. It was rediscovered in the late nineteenth
century by Mikao Usui from Japan and was brought to the west by Hawaya
Takata after the 2nd World War.
During a session, the Reiki practitioner
places their hands on the client and it is the client that draws the
energy through the practitioner, so they take as much as they need. Reiki
works by causing the body's molecules to vibrate at a greater
frequency so that energy blockages which cause disease simply dissolve,
resulting in a feeling of deep relaxation.
